Hardware Secrets - "AcBel Polytech is a very well known OEM
manufacturer, producing power supplies for brands such as Cooler Master. Now
they seem interested in the retail market and today we are going to completely
dissect their iPower 660 model (also known as PS2/660 or PC7016), which should
reach the US market pretty soon, to see if it can really deliver its labeled
power and what is its internal design."
Toshiba Satellite M305 Laptop Review
Digital Trends - "Toshiba's shiny M305 notebook packs a lot of performance and features into an extremely elegant and sophisticated-looking chassis. Despite its relatively low price it offers 3GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive and a Core 2 Duo "Penryn" processor in a light and portable package. Though it won't win any benchmark shootouts it's certainly adequate for web surfing and office productivity; the only downside is it includes the usual Toshiba bloatware, so know that you'll have to spend some time cleaning it up a bit to allow it to reach its full potential."
Samsung T220 Review
Inside Hardware - ..." Very often short descriptions in manufacturer manuals for displays are: exceptional design and excellent performances which is the case with Samsung T220. If some monitor looks nice we can see that by ourselves when we take it out from the packaging, but when it comes to other manufacturer's promise (about performances) we need to check them by ourselves for its authenticity. Samsung T220 satisfied the first half of its description from the moment we put it on the table."...
ATI Radeon HD 3850 256MB Video Card
Tech Lounge -
With it's release during the massive hardware holliday last year, the HD 3850, the least of four major cards, is easily overlooked. That's really a shame, since it's really a top-notch gaming card. Obviously, it's not the first choice for enthusiasts, but from a value perspective, it's without a doubt the best choice.
AMD has replaced the confusing suffixes on their old cards with a more intuitive number scheme: 50 = Pro, 70 = XT, and X2, for all intensive porpoises is XTX. Which brings about another comparison.
Sapphire PURE CrossFireX 790FX Motherboard
Digit Life - For a long time already, Intel followers, who consistently choose PC components from this manufacturer, have had an opportunity to choose a processor, chipset, and motherboard of the same brand. On one hand, consistent AMD followers can choose a processor with a chipset, plus a graphics card with a GPU from AMD. And since modern graphics cards (especially expensive ones) have reference designs, they are mostly manufactured at several plants by AMD's orders and only then distributed between partners for packaging and sales. Well, we can say that such graphics cards are manufactured by AMD. On the other hand, what about motherboards? AMD chipsets are very good.
Gaming Performance: Windows Vista SP1 vs. XP SP3
Extreme Tech - Buzz up!on Yahoo!
Even as Microsoft tries to shove Windows Vista down the collective and unwilling throat of computer users worldwide, the company is still perfecting the well-aged and well-loved Windows XP . The latter of the two operating systems just received its third (and evidently last) service pack.
The collection of fixes and improvements includes the vast majority of security and performance updates, patches, and other stuff released in the two plus years SP2 was released. It also includes a few new improvements.
OCZ Vendetta 2 Exposed Heatpipe
Frosty Tech - The OCZ Vendetta 2 heatsink features three large copper heatpipes that make direct contact with the top of the processor. This approach takes advantage of the superior heat conducting capabilities of 8mm diameter heat pipes to efficiently move heat from the processor to the cooling fins, without any intermediary steps. The technique is called Heatpipe Direct Touch, and as you've seen by the Top 5 Heatsinks chart... it's a winner. In addition, the Vendetta makes use of several other measures to keep noise quite low, under 42 dBA according to FrostyTech's real world measurements.
Sapphire Toxic 512MB Radeon HD3870 Graphics Card
Big Bruin - The Sapphire Toxic 512MB Radeon HD3870 graphics card offers strong performance right out of the box, but if you have any interest in overclocking you can turn it into a real powerhouse. The 860MHz limit on the GPU clock does not apply to this card, and it was capable of running at 885MHz by just using the Overdrive tab in the Catalyst Control Center. The innovative Vapor-X cooler keeps the card compact and lightweight, but above all else it handles the heat extremely well.
Everglide DKTBoard Gaming Keyboard
Techpowerup - The Everglide DKTBoard Aluminum Gaming Keyboard is one of the heaviest compact keyboards out there, even considering the material used. Everlide has chosen to place some keys at very curious locations, with the arrow keys pushing the corner of the numpad a bit into the block. The surface and feel during use simply scream Razer, as both of these attributes are exclusive to the brand. It is obvious that the DKTBoard is intended as a gaming keyboard and thus lacks a bit when compared to those multimedia office keyboards. The Everglide DKTBoard is still the cheapest keyboard, which is powered by Razer, as the Microsoft Reclusa will set you back around $10 US Dollars more. But it is also the only one of the bunch, which is only available with a US layout.
A.C. Ryan AluBox TFX 3.5
Mario Kart for the Nintendo Wii Review
Future Looks - I remember playing the first Super Mario Kart on the old
Super Nintendo Entertainment System. The graphics were nowhere near as good as
they are today, but the first Mario Kart really opened up a whole new world of
racing games. As time went on, I progressed to extract a fair bit of enjoyment
out of sequels like Mario Kart 64 and Mario Kart DS. If you’ve ever played any
of these shell-filled racers in the past, you’ll know exactly what to expect
from the latest iteration in the series:
Hypersonic Avenger AG2 12" Notebook
Techgage - The choices are endless when looking to purchase a new notebook. Do you want something with fantastic battery-life or something powerful? Gaudy or modest? Something everyone else has, or something unique?
If you chose the latter, then a boutique is what you are looking for. But then another problem arises... the price. Most often, it would be less expensive to start up your own company to build a notebook for you, rather than pay the highly inflated prices.
Hypersonic seems to be different, however. I'll admit that I didn't know of the company until our friends at OCZ Technology Group took them under their wings last fall, but after taking a look at their upcoming sub-notebook, the Avenger AG2, it's easy to see that both companies compliment each other well.
Grand Theft Auto IV
Bit Tech - "Grand Theft Auto IV is a great game and although it’s still very early in the year, this is obviously going to be a strong candidate for Game of The Year. It always was, frankly.
Yet, there’s still a little niggle of doubt in our ears here – something that says that although Grand Theft Auto IV is a great game, it just isn’t the huge leap forward we all expected it to be. This seed of doubt says that GTA IV is far more an evolution than a revolution and that that is obviously going to limit the overall impact and impression of the game.
Sungju TangoX Nano
VIA Arena - The Sungju TangoX Nano is an attractive new UMPC based on the VIA Nanobook reference design. Like other UMPCs, such as the Stone UMPC or the Belinea s.book 1, the Sungju TangoX Nano has a 7-inch (800 x 480 resolution) touch screen LCD display. It runs Windows XP Tablet edition with a stylus tucked in neatly at top of screen. The top part of the notebook cannot be rotated like a lot of tablet style devices. However, the orientation of the screen itself can be flipped so that you can lay the laptop upside down (with the keyboard facing away from you) and work directly with the touch screen interface.
