Outside Examination Continues

The Cosmos S has room for as many as 9 optical drives or an assortment of optical drives, fan buses, or card readers.  Something completely new that has been added to the Cosmos S are the flaps that are located on each side of case and when opened allow for the ease of removing the drive covers on the case itself.  With these flaps opened it is a simply task to take your thumb and press the tab located on each of the drive covers and then remove them so you can install which every piece of hard you plan on installing into the case.

Looking at the top of the Cosmos 1000 you can see the front portion of it is used by the accessory assembly.  In the mid-portion is a a large recessed area  where you place items and not worry about them sliding all over.  At the rear of the case are six raised louvers which are used to expel warm air from the top of the case, thanks to the pair of 120mm fans which are mounted to the top of the Cosmos.

Hidden behind a sliding panel you will find the accessory panel and the power button for the Cosmos S. The accessories are comprised of USB 2.0x4 connectors,a headphone and Microphone connector, 1394X - Firewire, eSATA x 1, supports HD/AC97.

One other new feature for the Cosmos S is the touch sensitive power button.  The button is slightly recessed and all you need to do to power your system up is to barely touch the button.

Here you can see the two flip levers that release the side-panels on the enclosure, the removal and replacement of the side-panels are the slickest I have ever seen.  Each side-panel has a groove along the bottom of the panel that you hook onto the case when you are ready to re-install the panels.  Then it is just a matter of pushing them all the way closed till they latch.

If you look close at the second picture you can see there is a single thumb-screw, when it is removed the top portion of the case can be slid to the rear of the case and then lifted straight up and lifted off. This gives you access so that you can install additional fans to the top of the case, or in our case add a water cooling system which we will be reviewing after we finish this review.

With the top panel removed you can see where the three fans would fit inside the unit, but we will butting a radiator an two fans in this area.
