Packaging

On the front of the carton you will find a very well done piece of artwork that shows the HIS Digital logo the 'Lengendary Excalabur Sword". The front of the carton has a miriad of Iconic stickers that let you know about the numerous features this video card has. The first is the inclusion of AMD's Vision, here is a brief description as AMD describes it.

VISION from AMD enables a range of highly responsive PCs designed for an incredible digital entertainment experience.

AMD is the only technology company in the world that creates both leading-edge processors and graphics solutions. If the processor is a computer's heart, giving it life and keeping things running, then graphics is its soul.

And that's the unique advantage of VISION from AMD—a heart and soul that work together in perfect harmony to deliver a superior entertainment experience.

And when Windows® 7 combines with VISION, everyday tasks are fast, easy, and more enjoyable.

Listen to music, e-mail friends, surf the Internet, view photos, or watch DVDs and online videos.

Your photos, websites, and HD movies will look outstanding, with support for as many as one billion colors, plus crisp images that look incredibly lifelike.

Other Icon tell you that this card is a PCIe unit and it contains 1GB or DDR5 memory which supports 1080p High Definition and has an HDMI output. Directly beow this information is the sticker that tells you about the inclusion of the Dirt 2 game.

The rear of the carton has a complete listing of the specifications and features of the HIS Radeon 5770.

A Closer Look

The HIS Radeon HD 5770 is dual-slot video card that makes use of full-length heatsink that the shape and design is something we haven't seen before from HIS Digital. The black and red coloring makes for a very pretty presentation that will look as good out of your computer as it does mounted inside of it.

Looking at the rear of the card we can see the standard 'X' bracket that holds the heatsink firmly in place against the GPU. You can also see four memory chips mounted on the rear of the card. The 8-chips on front and back are Hynix H5GQ1H24AFA GDDR5 DRAM.

From the end of the card you can see the four connector and vent that removes the warm air from the card and the inside of the your computer case.

From the end you can see the dual dual-link DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort outputs. Having a true HDMI connector as opposed to an adapter is a great addition for this card.

As a means of drawing more air into the card additional slits have been cut into the top of the card thus giving it better breathing ability.

The end design of the shroud is different as well as we have spot for the 6-pin power cable to attach which being slightly shield be the shroud. The other opening on this card is used as another air opening, but can easily be converted to an additional power connector.

Conclusion

The HIS Radeon HD 5770 is the perfect video card to introduce yourself to the newest DirectX 11 games. The price tag is what we consider to be very affordable as well as having the needed memmory and horsepower to play the new games the way you want to play them.

With a current MSRP of $160.00 at places like Newegg it is well within the budget of a number of people to be able to slap two of them in a case and run them in CrossfireX and gain about 1/4 more performance. We will be running a pair of them in CrossfireX next week and let you see the difference that the extra card can make so stay turned. In the mean time if you want to have card ready when Dirt 2 is released then visit your nearest computer dealer and pickup a new HIS 5770 to play with.
