PACKAGING

The calmshell packaging that surrounds the heatsink is pretty much devoid of any ground-shaking information other than the features and the specifications. One the front is does mention the power heat pipes that are used to cool the unit. If you are not familiar with the principals of how a heatpipe works, let me explain. A heatpipe is a hollow tube that is filled part way with a liguid that under heat turns into a gas. The powder they are referring to is the wicking agent which allows the liquid to move either up or down the heatpipe. So basically when the

The back panel give the prospective buyer an chance to read the entire specifications of the unit and therefore they should be able to assertain whether or not the NT06 is capable of fulfilling your needs for a good heatsink.

A CLOSER LOOK

Looking at the NT06 you can picture it being used in small confines of perhaps a Home Theater PC, it is comprise of a shroud that helps keep the fins alighned and also blocks the air forcing it to go downward rather than having it blow sideways. There are a total of five 'C' shaped heatpipes that have one leg going throught the fins and then are soldered in place. The opposite end of the heatpipe are sandwiched between the copper base contact block and finned upper portion.

Looking at the NT06 from this angle you can see how the heatpipes appear to be supports for the fin assembly and the fan that will be added later.

The next you can see the base of the heatsink and we would give it a score of 9 out of 10 since the base is perfectly flat from corner to corner and it is smooth but not to the point of having a mirror finish which can reflect some heat back to the heatsink itself. You can also see that there a small area of the CPU base that has been rabbited out. The following picture will show you why.

In this picture you can see that this where the attachment brackets for the LGA 775 motherboard we will be using the NT06 on. The bracket wings are held in place by two small screws. Here we have the fan installed, which by the way is held in place by four long metal screws that are placed in between the fins/
