A Closer Look

The AVOX|Jukebox ships in a very colorful cardboard box showing what looks to be a large screen TV in the background and a drawing of the AVOX|Jukebox itself and the remote control.  Vantec also uses the front of the carton to highlight the four major selling points for this device those being:

  1. Multimedia Player - MPEG 1,2,4 (MPG, AVI, M2V, DAT, VOB, IFO etc) DivX, XivD (except GMC, Qpel options applied) MP3, OGG, Vorbis, WAV, WMA, (except WMA9 pro lossless), JPG

  2. User Friendly On Screen Display - play your media with the touch of the remote.

  3. High Definition Video Output - Supports 480p, 720p, 1080i Progressive Scan Output.

  4. Mobile Storage Solution - Easy add storage to any system with USB.

The rear of the carton is not wasted either, showing you what each of the indicator lights does as well as telling you the purpose of each of the connectors on the rear of the AVOX|Jukebox.  It goes on to give you a very detailed listing of the units specifications as well as showing you four of the on-screen display menus you will encounter when you start using the the unit.

I always like the way that Vantec puts all of their parts in individual compartments, it makes finding things so much easier as well as keeping everything nice and secure during shipping.  Once you have everything laid out your will see that you have four cable with the AVOX|Jukebox, a USB cable to connect to the unit and your computer, AV Cable (Composite + Stereo L-R), Component Video Cable, Coaxial Audio Cable.

Also included with the AVOX|Jukebox is very detailed thirty-six page instruction manual which gives you a wealth of information about setting up the device as well as detailing the compatibility of the device in relation to the various formats offered today.

Next up is the CD that comes with the unit, it contains drivers for older versions of windows (i.e. 98SE, 2000) since XP does not require any additional drivers if you are using Service Pack II and have the High-Speed USB drivers installed.

The last item is the power transformer that you will need to power the unit when it is connected to the Television. I like the fact the that  device plugs into a power strip at a right angle instead of a straight line.
