Inspection
I can't show you
the box the CXI-500B shipped or actually I could it just won't be to
exciting since this happens to be one of the first production run
supplies so it arrived in a white carton - like I said not very
exciting but my understanding that they are near completion on the
supply and shipping carton so it will be a fancier presentation when
the unit is purchased.

The finish on the 500B is something that struck
me as being very well done, if you look at the second picture
you can see how highly reflective the case is, that speaks
highly of the paint finish used on the unit. You will see
the term automotive finish used in reviews quite often in this
case it is a apt description.
Now lets look at the front of the 500B, Coolmax
has opted to forego the use of a fan here but instead they have
used a large opening grill work. This grill work when
combined with the 120mm fan on the bottom of the unit provide
excellent air movement across the internal components of the
power supply as well as serving to removing additional warm air
from the case. Located next to Voltage switch you also
have a 3-position switch which allows you to adjust the 120mm
fan to your own personal setting.

Looking at the bottom of the 500B the first
thing you will notice is the gold accent fan guard, a nice touch
instead of the plain chrome version. With cover removed we
see two of the largest heatsink we have ever encountered in any
power supply and it's nice to see Coolmax took care of the small
things like pt a protective covering on the fan power cord.
Overall the the layout of the 500B is neat and well designed.
