Notice the difference between the packaging on the KamabokoZ and say
any product you can think of that was packaged here is the states.
See how the design is so much simpler yet they mange to get the get
amount of information to their customers as we do but without all
the cartoon characters we are so used to seeing on our boxes.
Removing the KamabokoZ from its' carton I was
immediately impressed to see that Scythe had chosen to use a
90mm fan and not some puny 80mm fan to set on top of the
KamabokoZ, a 90mm fan is a good choice for a couple of reasons.
For one it won't be as loud as whine created by a 80mm fan and
secondly it will push far more air.
Looking closely you can see that the fan
attaches in a way very similar to what Thermalright uses for all
of their fans, that being a wire attachment that loops over and
snaps into one of the screw holes located to the top of the fan.
The majority of the KamabokoZ is made of
aluminum except for the copper heat pipes and the copper contact
plate on the very bottom of the heatsink. The heatpipes
have been pressed into the copper plate on the bottom of the
KamabokoZ, and then when the small amount of liquid inside the
two tubes turns to a gas and rises it will go to the top of the
tubes which are are located directly under the fan where the
gaseous liquid will be returned to a true liquid and it in turn
will return to the base of the KamabokoZ and start the process
all over again.
Scythe covers the base of the heatsink with
protective coating of plastic film to insure that the base comes to
you in pristine shape and you can see by the accompanying pictures
that they were successful. You can also see the variable speed
controller which allows you to fine tune the 90mm fan that sets on
top of the KamabokoZ to any speed you chose to meet your condition
or temperatures.
