As our processors get faster the temperature
goes up accordingly and the job of the heatsink
become even more difficult as it tries to not
only cool the processor but the component
surrounding it What used to be
done with a high quality copper heatsinks and
80mm fans has now required us to move on to more
aggressive means of cooling things using such
things as heat pipes and 120mm fans.
Another thing that has changed dramatically is
the weight of the past versus the present
heatsinks. Take for example the
Thermaltake Volcano 11 a pretty decent heatsink
in its time and considered a monster by many
when it tipped scale a 476 grams. Whereas
the heatsink we are looking at today, the
Silverstone NT02 weight a mere 476 grams.
