When we start talking about the RADEON X800GT things can get a bit confusing, why might you ask? Simply because the same card can have as many as three different cores with which it operates. The choices we have are the R420, R423 or R480, all of these have one non-functioning quad leaving us with only 12 pipelines to play wit, but with the right core we are able to achieve high clock speed to help offset the lose of those 4 pipes.
The other interesting thing about the the
X800GT/GTO series of cards is the fact the ATI has now found themselves in a position to be highly competitive with Nvidia in the mid-market area which up till a short time ago Nvidia had dominated with the 6600 and 6800 series cards.
