If you're looking a power supply that promises to provide the cleanest
possible voltages to your motherboard you need look no further since the power cables provided with the X-Connect have a 100% braided shield wrapping the entire length of each cable
this will do an excellent job of preventing any EMI from leaking into the
circuits of your motherboard. The thickness of the cables looks large enough that in
my spare time I might jump cars this winter here in Minnesota with them.
Power Cables
The idea of being able to configure your power supply so that you only use the power cables that are required is so simple I'm surprised it was not thought of before. What I have heard some people voice concern about is the fact the each cable in essence adds one more connection to each cable thus possibility creating a higher resistance on each of the lines.
Ultra
Product's
in my opinion has taken every precaution to insure that this doesn't happen, for one thing each connector fits so snuggly
at times you really have to work to get them to seat properly. This is not a complaint either, for this type of connection to have the least resistance the
the tighter the connection the better.
I give Ultra Products high marks for what may be the best and most complete photographic description of their product I have ever seen. You should never think for one minute they added the additional pictures just to take up the extra space on the carton, someone in their Marketing department has figured out what the best word to image ratio is and they put it into perfect use when they produced the box. From any angle you look at the carton you not only see the power supply pictured but more importantly you see the placement of the Ultra name. None the less a
perfect packaging design.
Angled View
On the rear of the X-Connect besides the 80mm fan with sweet
Ultra branded chromed fan guard covering the blue LED fan we can see the slightly opaque blue colored on/off switch and the AC power connection,
both of these taken on a nice shade of blue once the lights go down and
power is applied. The reason the color of the parts is slightly off color from a deep blue color is the fact that the switch and the plug-in jack are both UV reactive.
