When you purchase something as expensive as thing device is you want
to make absolutely sure that it is not damaged when it is transported to your
home or office and Zalman has taken every precautions to make sure that nothing
happens to this fine-crafted cooling device.
To start with the package arrives in a non-descript
heavy-duty card-board carton with two nylon banding straps around it for extra security and
a single paper placard on the box that simply says Reserator 2 - 120v/60Hz - 1 ea.
After opening that carton you will find the main presentation carton, this is
the carton that will make you heart beat a little bit faster with anticipation
of actually installing the Reserator 2 and seeing how well it performs.
Zalman uses near perfect advertising techniques on the
display carton as they us almost every inch of it to provide vital
information to the would-be buyer. The
front of the carton is used to list the many features of the Reserator 2,
Including the most important part that the unit is fanless. Personally
I have two computers that are water cooled currently and anyone that say water
cooling makes less noise that a regular heatsink has never listened to my
two systems. Between the 120mm fan and the sound of the pump whirling
a heatsink would be just as quiet.
The end panels of the carton do not go to waste either,
as one end is used to provide pictures of the key components of the water
cooling kit as well as listing them and the optional one that can be
purchased separately.
The last panel gives the complete specifications of the
system. All in all there is more than enough information provided just on
the carton itself to help someone make a sound buying decision.
Now that we have the display carton out of the shipping
carton you would think we would be able to get to our parts and start looking at
them, that is not the case. Zalman has one more protective trick up their
sleeve. Inside the display carton you will find a Styrofoam block that
fits perfectly inside the display carton. When you first pull it out you
will see that the tubing (4 meters) and the instruction manual are stored in a
carved out opening in the side of the block.
Once you have the Styrofoam cube out you will notice that it is sliced into
three piece, you can lift and separate the first the second sections and
when you do you will find the CPU water block (ZM-WB4
Gold), VGA water block (ZM-GWB3),
two support brackets that attach to
the Reserator, mounting bracket for an
AM2 CPU,
Degassing Tube, jumper cable to
short out the power supply when we are ready to leak test the system and a
bottle of Zalman's Coolant (ZM-G300)
