The TwinX memory comes in two variations of colors, black and Platinum like we have, the heat spreaders are bonded to each stick of memory with a strip of frag tape so we did attempt to remove the heat spreaders for fear of destroying one of the modules.  We were able to find out that the chips used on the modules are Samsung K4H510838C-UCCC which should mean that we can look forward to some high speed and tight timing.

Up till about a year ago anyone with a gig of memory was pretty well set to play just about any game on the market that was until Battlefield 2 came along, then the requirements became a bit more dicey as we were able to see the stunning difference that 2 GB of memory made compared to 1.  If you have ever played this game with one gig of memory you probably thought that your system was doing okay, it's not until you add that second gig of memory do you really begin to play the game the way it was meant to be played.

Another example is the large number of people that are encoding video with programs like Adobe Premier, once again one will but 2 is like night and day so much better. The time is coming when every game is going to require 2 GB of memory so you might as well get used to it.  I find the greatest benefit from using 2 GB of memory when I am using Adobe Photoshop CS2 and have a very large image open and say I wish to us a very intensive filter on the image.  The difference between 1 and 2 GB of memory in your system makes a huge amount of difference when it comes time to render the picture.
