Inside and Out

Looking at the rear of the Apevia X-QPack the opening for the 120mm fan that pull the warm air out of case when things begin to heat-up from either watching DVDs or playing a few games which we will be able to do with X800GTO we will be using with the motherboard we are planning to use.

There are a total of four PCI slot cover which will line up perfectly with the motherboard we plan to use since we will be using a PCI-e video card along with a wireless network card.  This should not even begin to put a strain on the 500 watt power supply the X-QPack has built-in to it.

One extremely nice feature is the fact that the motherboard tray can be slide out the rear of the case simply by unscrewing 3 screws.  Once the motherboard has been attached, then you can just slide the motherboard tray back into the case.  The thing to remember is the heatsink can not be taller than 76mm measured from the motherboard.

On the upper deck of the case is the slide-out mounting bracket for the two hard drives the X-QPack can hold.  As we are building our system we will show you have the mount works.

Here is a close-up of the hard drive rack that can hold two hard drives as we mentioned earlier, it is held in place by a two screws and is then lifted straight up to remove it.  You have more than likely noticed that 90% of the X-QPack is made of aluminum which will probably make this one of the lightest cases you have ever carried - and that is a good thing!  Yet once we get this small little case put together it won't be thought of as a toy any more.  No it will not be the fastest PC on the planet but we plan to us it for a HTPC and the 3.0 GHz Intel dual core processor will work perfectly for that.

Here is the 80mm fan that is positioned at the front of the case, it job it to bring cool air into the case and push it across the motherboard.

Here you see the X-QPack prior to installation and now it my job to fit everything in there and still practice good cable management that the case and components don't burst into flames from lack of air. So let's get busy and see how it came out.
